Greenacres
 
Palm Beach County, home of the City of Greenacres, is one of the largest counties in Florida and it has over 47 miles of pristine beaches. The County is called the "Gold Coast" for the gold recovered from the sunken Spanish Galleons. The mild tropical weather allows outdoor fun all year long. There are more than 150 golf courses in Palm Beach County, and the area is known as Florida’s Golf Capital. Tennis is another popular activity and the County boasts over 1,100 tennis courts. The National Croquet Center is located in West Palm Beach. The 10 acre facility is the largest croquet complex in the world. Boating, fishing, water skiing, swimming, scuba diving and shell collecting are just a few of the activities enjoyed at the shore and in the water. County Parks have lakes, golf courses, nature trails, developed beaches, picnic areas, and playgrounds.

For spectators, the Moroso Motorsports Park has year round auto and motorcycle racing, car shows and racing schools. See the greyhounds run at the Palm Beach Kennel Club and Entertainment Complex. Roger Dean Stadium is the spring training home for the Florida Marlins and the St. Louis Cardinals. The world’s largest equestrian event in the world, the Winter Equestrian Festival, is held annually at Stadium Jumping, Inc. This is the place to see future Olympic champions go through their paces in jumping and dressage.

Major shopping malls include the Palm Beach Mall, Boynton Beach Mall, Gardens of the Palm Beaches, Mall at Wellington Green and Town Center at Boca Raton. Shopping districts such as CityPlace and Mizner Park include areas to shop and dine in the open air. There are more than 2,000 restaurants in the county, ranging from casual to elegant. Beachside cafes, snack bars, bistros, night clubs and formal dining spots abound.

Palm Beach County has numerous colleges offering a broad spectrum of higher education. Florida Atlantic University offers undergraduate, graduate and continuing education programs. Palm Beach Atlantic College is a four-year liberal arts college with a Christian environment. Northwood University specializes in business and management degrees. Other colleges in the area include Barry University, Lynn University, College of the Palm Beaches, and Nova University.

There are many things for kids to do in Palm Beach County. Calypso Bay Waterpark features an 870 foot river, water slides, water playgrounds, and a lap pool. Coconut Cove Waterpark and Recreation Center has a tubing river, waterfalls, and slides. Lion Country Safari provides visitors an opportunity to see the animals from the plains of Africa roaming free along a four-mile drive. Shellfish Marina offers kids and adults a chance to feed over 150 species of fish that gather along the seawall. The Palm Beach Zoo at Dreher Park, with over 400 animals, and the South Florida Science Museum with a science center, aquarium, planetarium, observatory and laser concerts.

More than 40 museums can be found in Palm Beach County. The Morikami Museum and Japanese Gardens in Delray Beach is the only museum in the U.S. dedicated to the culture and art of Japan. Whitehall, built in 1902 for Henry Flagler, was called, “More magnificent than any other private dwelling in the world.” Whitehall is the home of the Flagler Museum. The Lighthouse Center for the Arts is the cultural center for local, national and international artists. More than 3,000 works of art are on display at the Boca Raton Museum of Art. The Old School Square Cultural Arts Center contains restored early 20th century school buildings that house the Cornell Museum of Art and History, the Crest Theatre, and the Vintage Gymnasium. Other museums include the Loxahatchee Historical Museum, the Jupiter Lighthouse Museum and the International Museum of Cartoon Art. The Norton Museum is internationally known for its collections of 19th and 20th century art.

For the culturally minded, Palm Beach County offers the Kravis Center, the Caldwell Theatre Company, the Florida Stage in Manalapan, the Palm Beach Opera, and the Coral Sky Amphitheater for the best in performing arts.
